This past week or so has been a very emotional, exhausting week for our family. A week ago Thursday, the 4th, I learned that my grandma B. was in the hospital with pneumonia. At age 93, this kind of thing can be pretty serious. By Saturday afternoon, she had passed away, with her son and daughter at her side. The funeral was set for Tuesday, in southern Illinois. We had plane tickets to fly out to Colorado on Monday for our niece's Baptism. So, we called the airlines, and got our flight changed to fly into St. Louis on Monday evening. And then, we flew out to Denver on Wednesday. To add to the mix, was all of the canceled flights and delayed flights because of the big snowstorms out East and the rest of the country.
In the end, we made it to both "celebrations of life"--my grandma's funeral and Bella's Baptism. Even though the funeral was a sad occasion, we were glad to introduce Paul to several relatives who had not met him yet. And we also got to meet our new nephew, James. Here are a few pictures taken in IL.

Oh my goodness--I'm so sorry to hear about the death of your grandma! How poignant to have it happen so close to the baptism of your little niece. Really does make you think about the span of a lifetime and just the preciousness of life . . . Glad you got to spend those important times with family.
