Block Island

Uncle David came for a visit last weekend, and we took him to Block Island for the day. There's an hour's ferry ride to get to the island. We brought our bikes to get around.

Benjamin LOVED playing in the sand! He was rolling around in it and had sand everywhere.

These are the stairs we had to climb down to get to the beach.

All this bike riding sure tuckers a guy out!

Getting so big...our 15-month-old

We can't get over all the new things Benjamin has been learning, such as...

...stirring and mixing things in a bowl (must be all that time spent watching Mom work in the kitchen!)

...climbing in and out of his chair, with the constant reminder of "sit down"

...finger painting and coloring (Mom is so excited about future art projects!)

Benjamin has also been adding a number of words to his vocabulary. He says (or has his own words for) hot, water, toast, milk, down, up, outside, truck, motorcycle, bye-bye, hi, more, please, Dada, Mama, music, "B-I-B-L-E," ball, bus, again, all done... It's been exciting as he's been able to communicate more and more. It always amazes us how much of what we say, he understands. Can you tell we're a little proud of him?! =)

Visitors

We had a good weekend with Uncle Ken, Aunt Mary, and Grandma. They helped us with a lot of outside work that was long overdue. Thanks!

Cuddling with Great-Grandma and Daddy

If you guys would just listen to me, I could tell you how to get the wheel on!

Time for a drink break.

Suddenly summer

We've had four consecutive days of 95+ degree heat here. Before this, I don't think we'd even reached 80. So, Aunt Mary and Uncle Ken bought Benjamin a pool while they were visiting this weekend. He loves it!

Here we are filling up the pool. Mom foolishly didn't put me in my suit--I was soaked!

Now that I have my suit on, I'm just standing here.

I did sit down and splash around, eventually.

Okay, I've had enough.

Time to investigate that pile of dirt Aunt Mary left lying on the ground!
