Fall Activities

We've had a busy fall and start of the school year.  I started working part time as a teacher aide in a young 5's program.  It's at a Lutheran school, but not the same one the boys attend.  It's been a bit of an adjustment to be working again, but I do enjoy the 16 kids I work with, and the head teacher is great.
Jonathan made two trips to Florida this September.  One was to help his parents move, and the second was to attend his dad's retirement service and celebration.  After that, his parents came to our house (and various other places in the Midwest) for several weeks.

Two Grandpas in the corn maze.  My parents have been here two different weekends this fall.  This picture was taken on the boys' field trip to the pumpkin patch.

Grandma playing baseball with the boys

David came for a weekend visit with Matt and Lily (his friend's children).  They loved being in the country and playing outside!  Here's David and Lily picking raspberries.

While David was visiting, we all went to Toledo to help celebrate Grandma Liebich's 98th birthday!

Here are the kids looking at a pond covered with fallen leaves.

Halloween costumes:  two Marios and a Luigi

And here they are riding go-karts!

Our church's trunk or treat group.  We didn't end up going trick-or-treating anywhere this year because it was cold and rainy, and we knew the boys would get plenty of candy at church!

Paul's 6th birthday

Paul celebrated his birthday at Grandpa and Grandma's house in Iowa.  Jonathan and I took a very quick, impromptu trip to North Dakota to get the rest of Jonathan and Sarah's things out of their garage.  The boys stayed in Iowa, and all of this happened to fall on Paul's birthday.  Grandma took the boys mini-golfing that day, and he got to go the store to pick out his birthday present.  We were back by the evening to have red cake!

End of summer pictures

DQ visit--prize Dilly Bars from the summer reading program at the library

Bounty of cantaloupe from the garden--this was probably only about half of what we picked.

Playing at Lizzie and Abbie's house--who I watched on Thursdays over the summer.

Serious discussion with Bo during a thunderstorm.  We went for a quick trip before school started to see their new house in Milwaukee.

Newest hobby--baseball card collecting.  The boys love to sort their cards.

Cubs game with Steve.

Swimming in Lake Michigan.

Watching the sun set...

...while getting our feet wet.

The corn behind our house.

Garden shot

Paul likes to load up this cart and push it around, like he's shopping.

Grandma's funeral

On August 3rd, we gathered for my grandma's funeral in Conklin, MI.  Even though many tears were shed, it was still neat to see all of the family gathered together.  I couldn't help but think how much Grandma would have enjoyed being there, with all of her family.  We have hope in the Lord's promise of all being reunited one day with Him.
