Paul reading

Lately, Paul has realized he can "read" (has books memorized).  Anything to be like his big brother!  Benjamin is doing excellent with his reading.  I never get tired of hearing him read!  He recently finished reading a 50 states book and a Hear-me-read Bible, and is now reading through a beginner's Bible.  I think he's on page 140!

Winter Fun

A picture out our window of the four foot drift in front of our house.  Benjamin had three snow days just as he was supposed to go back after Christmas break.  It happened to be good timing, because both boys got sick then!

Mom and Paul sledding while Benjamin was at school one day.

Lining up all the Cars and Planes toys.  Actually, we didn't have as many as I thought!

Decorating gingerbread houses that Grandma bought after Christmas.  They loved it!

A view of Lake Michigan in January.  Those whitecaps in the distance were actually frozen!

Fun with friends after ice skating.

Another snow day!  We dug out the blocks, and the boys made race tracks for their cars.  Benjamin also declared it pajama day, so they stayed in their pjs all day.

This is what it looked like outside today.

This is what it looked like inside--cookie time!  We never got around to doing Christmas cut-outs, because we got so many goodies from other people.  Most of those are gone (although we still do have a few boxes of chocolate!), so we made Valentine/winter cut outs instead.

Ohio

Jonathan's grandma had a heart attack right before Christmas, so we made a short trip to see her in the rehab facility.  She is doing well, and is back home again.

Jonathan's parents and brother and his aunt Diane were also there to see Grandma.  All of the nurses kept saying what a delight she was, and no one could believe she was 96 years old!

Iowa trip

We traveled to Iowa the last part of Christmas break.  My brother's family was there, too.

Time to open presents!

Michael loved playing in the wrapping paper.

Playing with Uncle Jonathan's old Legos.

Playing at Chuck E Cheese

Going on a Squeegee Hunt!  Benjamin thought we should have a concert, and we could all sing something.  Jonathan opted for a squeegee hunt with the boys.  They loved it!

We went to the science center, and most of the schools around were in session, so it wasn't crowded.

Paul trying out one of those electricity experiments.  His hair is perfect for it!
