Independence

Ever since we started potty training a few weeks ago, Paul has become very independent.  He wants to dress himself, buckle himself in his car seat, drink out of a regular cup, get in and out of the bathtub by himself, pour his own milk--you get the idea.  While it is wonderful that he wants to do some of these things by himself, it requires a lot of patience--both on his part and mine!  He can get so frustrated, but will refuse any kind of help!  The potty training is going fairly well.  He's in underwear all day now, but still has accidents.  He's does best remembering to go when he's naked from the waist down!  Sometimes I'll remind him to go, but that is usually met with much resistance.  However, if Benjamin happens to be going, Paul will often join him.  I had forgotten how much of a process potty training is, but like I said, it's going pretty well!

If you look closely, you can see that Paul has his sandals on the wrong feet.  But he did it all by himself!

Sprinkler Fun

We had our first hot day of summer on Saturday, so we got out the sprinkler.  The boys had fun getting wet, but they had even more fun getting muddy, by stomping in all of the mud puddles the water left.

New nephew/cousin!

My sister-in-law, Sarah, and brother, Jonathan had a baby boy yesterday.  They named him Michael William.  He was 7 lb, 11 oz, and 20 inches long.  We can't wait to meet him in person in two months!

Crazy hair day

Benjamin had crazy hair day for school on Tuesday.

Mother's Day

After church, lunch, and nap, we headed down to the coast.  It was a beautiful day--close to 80 and sunny.  We walked around an island I had been to in the fall for a women's retreat.  The boys enjoyed climbing around on the rocks by the water, and throwing the smaller rocks into the water.  (I don't know at what age this cheap entertainment stops being fun, but so far we're still good!)  After that, we had an early dinner at a pasta place by the water.

I received several lily of the valley plants and a lilac bush as my gift.  Those are two of my favorite flowers.  Benny and Paul were very excited to help plant them!

Afternoon at the beach

We finally had a sunny, slightly warmer day yesterday, so we decided to take a picnic lunch to a state park.  We had fun playing at the beach, jumping off rocks, and exploring the gardens.  It was so clear, we had no problem seeing Long Island and lighthouses from the shore.
